Bio

Serving Plymouth Schools since 2007, Kyle Coffman has led Riverside Intermediate, home of the Rockets, for the past four years.

He began his career as a high school English teacher at Plymouth High School and was voted Most Influential Educator by a graduating senior three times in his five years of teaching.  He then moved to the Assistant Principal chair at Plymouth High School and found himself, among other tasks, tackling the tardy issue.  After implementing weekly heat waves and hall freezes, tardies dropped roughly 14% from the 2015-16 school year to the 2016-17 school year.  The 2017 PHS Valedictorian had his own heat wave during his eponymous speech, awarding each graduate with a prize for being on time and echoing the oft-repeated phrase “When you’re on time, you’re not tardy.”  These efforts in part led to Coffman being selected as the 2016 District 2 Assistant Principal of the Year from the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).

He has had the good fortune of being surrounded by great people during his 16 years in Marshall County with the Plymouth Schools and as a servant leader, Kyle has co-chaired Leadership Marshall County’s board for the past three years and is an active member of the Youth Leadership Marshall County board, in addition to leading two of its monthly programs.

Kyle has presented at the IASP’S Fall Professionals Conference (“Principals as Therapists: Your Problem is My Problem”) and also mentors assistant principals through IASP’s Leading AP’s program.

He and Jennifer, his wife of twelve years, welcomed their son Theodore into the world on October 18 last year.  So, yeah, life is grand.

Kyle earned his MS. Ed. in Educational Leadership from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2011 and his Ed.S. in School Superintendency from Ball State University in 2016.
