Phil Hintz is the Chief Technology Officer for the Niles Township High School District 219. Phil has served in the CIO and CTO role for school districts for over 20 years now. Phil is a sought after speaker both nationally and internationally for his early work in developing 1:1 iPad initiatives, student data privacy advocacy, and developing transformative learning spaces. Most recently for he has been on the forefront nationally, developing a blueprint for school districts to embrace AI to transform all areas of a school district. Phil is a Thought Leader for CoSN (Consortium of School Networking) and provides mentorship for early career CTO’s. In 2019, Phil was awarded the Withrow CTO of the Year award by CoSN. In June of 2022, Phil was the winner of Tech & Learning Magazine’s Innovative Leader Award for Best Implementation of Data Privacy. Currently, as a life-long learner, Phil is progressing on his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership where he is completing his dissertation research on the impact of AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) on students with intellectual disabilities in learning life and occupational skills. Phil’s preliminary research was recently featured in Tech & Learning Magazine for his work in these important technological advances for inclusive education.
