Jose Rios Lua is the Director of Family Empowerment and Communications for the Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support. Jose oversees all internal and external communication efforts related to special education, strategically coordinating across the division's different functions to manage communications to families, schools, and external stakeholders. One of the many hats that Jose wears is that of the host of the Beyond Access Series. This series shares information with families around special education topics and provides families the opportunity to learn directly from subject matter experts. Jose also serves on the planning committees for many of the DOE's inclusion initiatives, such as the Inclusive Education Student Summit, the Inclusion Expo, and the Disability Pride Visual Arts Contest.
