Bio
Heather Hermansen holds a Master's from Baruch College in Public Administration. Heather is a passionate advocate for systems reform and has worked on various reform efforts within Special Education, Early Childhood, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. Prior to leading the TCAC, Heather worked in the Office of School Health- a joint program of DOHMH and DOE where she built and implemented systems and structures that enabled the office to expand its mental health footprint so that schools across NYC had access to mental health support. Heather believes strongly in collaboration: partnering with staff and schools to carry out this work. Heather uses her expertise around policies, systems and building structures to impact the lives of students transitioning to adulthood in order to ensure that all students, whatever their learning abilities, have equal access to college and career. Heather believes that working together is the only way to build safe and supportive schools that recognize the capacity of each child to learn, grow, and succeed. Heather is honored to lead the DOE TCAC Team.
