Since 2008, Maggie Moroff has been coordinating the special education policy work at Advocates for Children of New York (AFC) a non-profit working to protect the rights of children at the greatest risk for school-based discrimination and/or academic failure. Among her responsibilities there, Maggie leads the ARISE Coalition, a group of parents, advocacy organizations, educators and academics working together to push systemic reforms to improve day-to-day experiences and long-term outcomes for students with disabilities in the New York City schools. Previously, Maggie worked as a teacher, a pubic defender and in various roles at legal services organizations focused on education and justice related issues.
