Mom to Michael! My 7yo free-spirited, fiercely passionate gamer who happens to have Written Expressive Disorder, Reading Disorder and ADHD. Life is very colorful in my home!
My advocacy work in Special Education stems from my experiences as Michael's mom and began very early navigating The Early Intervention Program. Here is what I know, when you think you have it all figured out, you dont. Learning Differences evolve so we have to lean into those changes and adjust as we need. Lastly, all is manageable! We (parents) are never alone in this process. Build your Special Needs community!
Currently I serve as the Chair of the IEP Committee on CEC 11 in the Bronx. Together we advocated heavily and have written resolutions for more efficient literacy programs, broadband services for students during the pandemic. Currently, we are getting very involved in advocating for IEP Students with the upcoming Summer Rising Program to ensure children in a 10month plan continue to receive services in the summer.
