Mike Gaskell
Principal and Author, East Brunswick Public Schools

Dr. Michael Gaskell is Principal at Hammarskjold Middle School in East Brunswick, NJ., following experience as a special educator and assistant principal in Paramus, NJ. He models the pursuit of lifelong learning as he serves to mentor new principals through the New Jersey Leaders to Leaders program. An NJPSA Stars recipient, he has been published in over 2 dozen articles in education journals and blogs, including Education Post, eSchoolNews, NASSP, Edtech and ASCD Smartbrief, and has made the most-read section of ASCD Smartbrief numerous times. Mike presents at national conferences, including the Learning and the Brain conference, November, 2021; and FETC January 2022. He has been on numerous podcasts and started his own podcast in January 2022, in which he interviews successful adults like Diamond Dallas Page, how he conquered his dyslexia and anxiety associated with it. Mike has published two books: Leading Schools Through Trauma and Microstrategy Magic. Dr. Gaskell works tirelessly to support instructional excellence and student success, for his school community, and most importantly, for the wellness and equity of all children.

Melissa Jacobs is the Director of Library Services for the NYC Department of Education/New York City School Library System. Melissa started her career as an elementary school librarian and then spent 14 years as the Coordinator for Library Services. Melissa has been named a 2022 EdWeek Leader to Learn From, Library Journal Mover and Shaker, and has contributed to School Library Journal, Knowledge Quest, Teacher Librarian, and School Library Connection. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing with her husband, two daughters, step-son, two orange cats, and Chiweenie.

I am a passionate educator who has always strived to bring engaging resources into the classroom to enhance learning and increase student achievement. I started my career working as an educational technology teacher, then as a technology coach, Assistant Director to now as Director of Technology for the Bayonne Public School System. I want to empower all staff to utilize technology as a transformational tool in their work, teaching, and learning. When I am not at work, I enjoy watching my two children at sporting events and spending time with my family. I am an avid Peleton rider and a proud Disney enthusiast!
