Join us on June 25 from 8:30am to meet with district leaders and participate in actionable sessions, group discussions and networking to expand your PLN.

Registration and Breakfast
Attendees arrive to register, network, and enjoy breakfast, as well as get their “Passport to Prizes” pass. Throughout the day, attendees will complete their Passport by visiting with our partners either in scheduled meetings or during lunch if they do not have scheduled meetings.

Welcome and Introductions
Edtech luminaries Carl Hooker and Adam Phyall bring their enthusiasm and passion for education to the New Orleans Summit as our co-hosts for the day. As co-MCs, Carl and Adam will facilitate fun and interactive conversations throughout the day to ensure attendees walk away with innovative ideas they can put into action.

Keynote: How to Develop a Diverse School Staff
We hear a lot about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but are schools creating a culture that builds career pathways for diverse leaders? Many districts have every intention to answer “yes” to this question, but might not have the tools they need to achieve this goal. In this presentation, Diane Doersch, Director of Technology for the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools Initiative at Digital Promise and co-chair of CoSN’s DEI committee, shares tactical guidelines that can support your efforts to diversify your staff.

Attendees either participate in a facilitated small group discussions focused on important topics related to strategic planning or meet with industry partners. Topics will include:

  • Data Privacy/Cybersecurity: This session will cover how districts keep data private and secure. What do districts have in place to support these efforts? What resources are available to Georgia schools?

  • Esports Careers: More Than Just Gaming: Esports is more than just a thriving gaming community -- it is a career opportunity. Esports can prepare students for careers in a variety of related industries, from broadcasting to sales and marketing to content creation.

  • Ending Silos: Shared responsibilities across department lines (curriculum, accountability, HR, Business office, etc). Having a seat at the table when decisions are being made. How solutions are made or created.

  • Rethinking Learning Spaces: How are districts assessing and addressing learning loss? And are these assessments delivering an accurate, unbiased  picture of what students are learning? Attendees will share their experiences and perspectives.

APPMazing Race Activity     
Attendees group into teams to participate in Carl Hooker’s “APPMazing Race.” Teams are assigned a set of activities that gets everyone up and moving as they collaborate to solve a series of challenges that teach team building, creativity, and problem solving. All winning team members receive an Amazon gift card!
