Tanika is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist and RESNA Assistive Technology Professional with over 9 years of clinical experience. She was a recipient of the U.S. Department of Education Children’s Communicative Competence Project AAC Grant, which provided her with specialized training from distinguished professors such as Dr. Janice Light in AAC and working with individuals with complex communication needs. For the past 7 years, she has worked as a speech-language pathologist and AAC specialist for the New York City Department of Education. Before the NYCDOE, Tanika worked in various settings specializing in populations across the lifespan with complex communication needs. These populations include but are not limited to Traumatic Brain Injury, Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Additionally, Tanika provides consultative AAC and speech/language support to various Intermediate Care Facilities across New York City and has been doing so for the past 8 years.
