Monday, May 6th, 2:30 - 3:30 PM: Modeling and coaching on introducing this unit in elementary classrooms through a contextualized, intersectional approach and unpacking the interactive game for extended learning.
The Healer Stones of Kapaemahu
Wednesday, May 15th, 7:30 - 8:30 PM: This interactive, multimedia session explores our unit on the Healer Stones of Kapaemahu, produced through our partnership with the filmmakers of the PBS documentary of the same name. Through the story of the erasure of the mahu in the age of American imperialism, the story of the mahu connects Hawaiian history to the story of America as well as efforts across the globe to restore native cultures' acceptance of gender diversity.
Summer Reading Book Bites for Teachers and Students
Tuesday, May 21st, 7:30 - 8:30 PM: Explore LGBTQ-inclusive books for readers of all ages: fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and more. Participants will leave with recommended booklists for elementary, middle, and high school students as well as suggestions for teachers' summer reading and books to share with colleagues!
