Kalima McKenzie-Simms has been an enthusiastic supporter of PFLAG NYC since 2011 when she began as a volunteer in the Safe Schools Program while attending Lehman College. Kalima helped make the PFLAG NYC Safe Schools Program a significant resource to help New York City schools make sure that all students can learn in environments that are welcoming and supportive. As Program Manager, Kalima now shapes PFLAG NYC’s programs across Support, Safe Schools, and Outreach, including program content and development. Kalima is also the lead facilitator of PFLAG NYC’s Black Family Circle. She is a graduate of Lehman College and soon will complete her MPA at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at City College of New York (CCNY).
