Welcome and Introductions
Adam Phyall, Director of Technology and Media Services for Newton County School System in Covington, GA, brings his enthusiasm and passion for education to the Orlando Summit as our host and MC for the day. Adam has been a strong advocate for digital access and digital equity throughout his career, and he will facilitate fun and interactive conversations throughout the day to ensure attendees walk away with innovative ideas they can put into action.

Keynote: How to Develop a Diverse School Staff
We hear a lot about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but are schools creating a culture that builds career pathways for diverse leaders? Many districts have every intention to answer “yes” to this question, but might not have the tools they need to achieve this goal. In this presentation, Diane Doersch, Director of Technology for the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools Initiative at Digital Promise and co-chair of CoSN’s DEI committee, shares tactical guidelines that can support your efforts to diversify your staff.

Unlocking Failure: Using Risk-taking to Open Up Creativity 
Risk-taking and celebrating failure can be great ways to stimulate creativity in the classroom. During this very interactive session, Adam Phyall leads attendees through a series of improv activities designed to help activate the creative side of their brains. Come prepared to move, think, and leave your inhibitions at the door. It’s not how you fall down, it’s how you get back up!

Attendees group into teams to participate in Adam Phyall’s “APPMazing Race.” Teams are assigned a set of activities that gets everyone up and moving as they collaborate to solve a series of challenges that teach team building, creativity, and problem solving. All winning team members receive a prize.
