Dr. Kecia Ray presents the latest research about the effect of the pandemic on California schools, including how this will affect the future of education in the state. Dr. Ray will also present the latest funding resources available to the state.

Attendees break out into small groups to share their experiences, challenges, and solutions related to the most important issues facing California schools today. Topics will include:

  • Learning Loss: How are districts assessing and addressing learning loss this year? And are these assessments delivering an accurate, unbiased  picture of what students learned this year? Attendees will share their experiences and perspectives.  
  • Technology Management: How are districts building a sustainable technology infrastructure? Attendees discuss their plans for device management/refreshes, flexible learning spaces, and building robust, scalable networks.  
  • Creating an Engaging Learning Environment: Attendees will discuss their plans to support and improve student engagement next year and beyond.
  • Data Management : How do districts manage access to data in safe, efficient ways? Attendees share their policies and best practices.

Attendees enjoy lunch, courtesy of Tech & Learning, as they meet in small groups with industry partners and discuss other topics crucial to academic success in California. Topics include:

  • Data Privacy, sponsored by Classlink: This session will cover the ways that the pandemic has changed how districts keep data private and secure.
  • Assessment, sponsored by Gradecam:  What will assessment look like in California next year? This session will review the expected changes, and review ways districts can prepare for these changes.  
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL) for Learning Recovery, sponsored by DefinedLearning: This session explores the tools that districts can use to support hands-on learning for their CTE, STEM, and project-based learning programs 
  • New Learning Spaces, sponsored by Nureva: In this session, we’ll consider what learning spaces will look like next year, and what technology can be used to support these new spaces.
