Attendees will get to meet each other through a unique Breakout EDU team-building experience, where teams work together to solve academically-aligned puzzles. Can you and your team help to Breakout of The Faculty Lounge?

Research Round Up

Dr. Kecia Ray presents the latest research about the effect of the pandemic on Chicago schools, including how this will affect the future of education in the state. Dr. Ray will also present the latest funding resources available to the state

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Topical Round Tables

Attendees either participate in small group discussions focused on important topics related to strategic planning or meet with industry partners. The morning’s small group discussion will include:

  • Learning Loss: How are districts assessing and addressing learning loss this year? And are these assessments delivering an accurate, unbiased  picture of what students learned this year? Attendees will share their experiences and perspectives
     
  • Technology Management/Building Sustainable Classrooms: How are districts building a sustainable technology infrastructure? Attendees discuss their plans for device management/refreshes, flexible learning spaces, and building robust, scalable networks
     
  • Creating an Engaging Learning Environment: Attendees will discuss their plans to support and improve student engagement this year and beyond
     
  • ​​​​​​​Data Management: How do districts manage access to data in safe, efficient ways? Attendees share their policies and best practices

Topical Round Tables

Attendees either participate in small group discussions focused on important topics related to strategic planning or meet with industry partners. The afternoon’s small group discussion will include:

  • Data Privacy: This session will cover the ways that the pandemic has changed how districts keep data private and secure
     
  • Assessment:  What will assessment look like in Chicago this year? This session will review the expected changes, and review ways districts can prepare for these changes
     
  • Experiential Learning: This session explores the tips and tools that districts can use to support hands-on learning for their CTE, STEM, and project-based learning programs

  • Rethinking Learning Spaces: In this session, attendees will discuss  what learning spaces will look like next year, and what technology can be used to support these new spaces
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Reflections & Apply to Practice

Dr. Ray will lead a group discussion about lessons learned from the conversations had throughout the day and discuss what takeaways are planned to put into action, as well as how we can support each other after the conference is over
