Keynote: Mission Critical: Navigating Education's Next Frontier

What can school leaders learn from a stranded spacecraft and a mission to return humans to the Moon?
Quite a lot.

In this engaging and interactive keynote, we will look into parallels between the ingenuity of Apollo 13, the ambition of the Artemis program, and the challenges facing schools today. As leaders grapple with AI, screen-time concerns, cybersecurity threats, and an uncertain future of work, they’ll explore how to make mission-critical decisions when the path forward isn’t always clear. Participants will leave with fresh perspectives, practical insights, and a renewed sense of purpose for leading through uncertainty and designing schools ready for the next frontier.

Team Activity: Moving to Action

Attendees explore The Kennedy Space Center in a scavenger hunt team exercise. They will have access to the Space Center’s most popular attractions, including:

  • Heroes & Legends: This attraction uses high-tech storytelling and holograms to explore the concept of heroism through the lives of early pioneers.
  • The Deep Space Launch Complex: The Space Center’s newest major addition, this exhibit includes a motion theater ride where attendees can choose one of four futuristic journeys (like the Moon, Mars, or Saturn) and the Visionary Exhibits, showing actual flight-flown hardware from SpaceX (like a Falcon 9 booster hanging from the ceiling) and Boeing’s Starliner.
  • The Space Shuttle Atlantis: This exhibit features the actual Atlantis orbiter displayed as if it were still in orbit and a “Shuttle Launch Experience” –  a high-fidelity simulator that replicates the vertical vibration and G-forces of a shuttle launch.
  • The Rocket Garden: An outdoor museum of vertical giants from the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. The exhibit includes updated immersive guided tours and high-resolution digital displays that explain the engineering behind each rocket.
