How can district leaders design model schools in the rapidly-changing Age of AI? Emcee Carl Hooker leads an interactive discussion where attendees collaborate on some of the key frameworks to create an equitable, safe, future proof learning environment for all students.

Scholastic Esports: More Than Just Gaming 

In this session, esports expert Audra Yocom, Director of Technology Education for Success in Education, a nonprofit serving every school district in the state of Utah with core education-based programs, discusses how scholastic esports programs provide students with meaningful career and STEM education alongside their tournament experience using specific examples from her district and NASEF, the international Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations.

Revolutionizing Special Education with AR/VR

With an increased focus in Utah on Universal Design for Learning, this session will focus on how Augmented and Virtual Reality can be used to meet the needs of diverse learners. Renowned VR expert Shannon Putman, owner of Putman XR Consulting and professor at the University of Louisville, shares her insight and advice to school districts looking to implement VR to enhance their special education programs.

The design thinking process uses three tenets: inspiration, ideation, and implementation. In this session, Dr. Matthew Joseph walks attendees through the design thinking process and shares specific examples of how design thinking can be used when implementing new technologies like AI, esports programs, and AR/VR.

Closing Reception and AI Exhibit Tour

Attendees relax and reflect on the day while enjoying beverages and refreshments and then a private tour of the new “The Mind of AI Exhibit” at The Leonardo. This new cutting-edge exhibit will have its world premiere at The Leonardo, offering our attendees a unique glimpse into the realm of artificial intelligence. The experience includes a Timeline of AI, an intro theater, an immersive 30-minute journey through AI, an educational hands-on interactive gallery, a reflection space with opportunities for visitor interaction and feedback as well as the ‘AI Game Room’.
