Relax, meet new friends, and reconnect with colleagues at the opening Summit dinner at Buttercup, a contemporary American farm-to-table Restaurant and Craft Bar owned and operated by a husband and wife team. 

Registration and Breakfast

Attendees arrive to register, network, and enjoy breakfast, as well as get their “Passport to Prizes” pass. Throughout the day, attendees will complete their Passport by visiting with our partners either in scheduled meetings or during lunch if they do not have scheduled meetings.

Addressing Chronic Absenteeism and Engagement

Michael Hale, Director of College, Career, and Citizenship at Casco Bay High School, will discuss the current state of chronic absenteeism and its impact beyond academic performance. This session will include the role of school climate and culture in influencing student attendance and engagement, as well as specific strategies district administrators can use to boost attendance.
 

Networking Lunch  & Meet Our Partners

Developing a District-Wide Plan for the Use of AI in Schools

Kerry Gallagher, Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning St. John's Prep, and Kelley Papa, Instructional Coach at  St. John's Prep, share their generative AI journey. Starting with the media-driven panic in schools in November 2022, they will share how they started with faculty listening sessions, student and parent communications, academic integrity policies, and starting to create a vision with the school board. The mindset of curiosity continued in 2023-2024 school year with teacher innovator lunch discussions, careful selection and roll out of a school-sanctioned AI tool, and professional learning in many forms. The vision for the 2024-2025 school year is already in motion... learn what is coming next!

Game-Based Learning, Design Thinking & Human-Centered Problem Solving in Schools 

How might we use a design process to develop game-based solutions to challenges in our schools -- in 30 minutes or less?  During this session, participants will discover how principles of design thinking and game-based thinking  lead to new perspectives on problem solving, all in the service of rapid-fire prototyping games that address pressing needs in our school communities.  Presented by Dan Ryder, Director of Design & Innovation, Community Regional Charter School, ME
 

Tech & Learning Innovation Lab

Attendees get a sneak peek at some of the newest technology companies to enter the field, have the opportunity to share their candid feedback to help shape the future of edtech, AND earn a $200 scholarship to their schools or districts. 

Team Activity: Creating Your Model School Presentation

Teams use their takeaways gathered throughout the day to create their portrait of a Model School.

Each team chooses a representative to share the 2-minute presentation they created for their Model School. The audience votes on each presentation and the winning team members receive prizes.

Closing Remarks & Awards Ceremony

The winners of the Model School contest and Tech & Learning Innovative Leader awards will be announced, followed by the Passport to Prizes drawing.
