Welcome/Keynote

Keynote: It’s Easier to Cancel
Adam Gidwitz is the bestselling author of A TALE DARK AND GRIMM, IN A GLASS GRIMMLY, and THE GRIMM CONCLUSION, as well as THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: SO YOU WANT TO BE A JEDI?, Newbery Honored novel, THE INQUISITOR’S TALE, THE UNICORN RESCUE SOCIETY series and the forthcoming MAX IN THE HOUSE OF SPIES. He is also the creator of the #1 podcast for kids, GRIMM, GRIMMER, GRIMMEST.

Like so many authors of books for young people, Adam Gidwitz has had talks cancelled, books challenged, and been dragged into a principal’s office like he was back in middle school himself. But these experiences have given him a chance to see how brave educators, especially school librarians, have done so much to protect children’s freedom to choose what to read.
